Clemente & Pak selected to the North Atlantic squad

TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes Michelle Clemente and Lisa Pak have been selected to the 2007 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region Field Hockey Team. The two forwards were chosen to the North Atlantic Region Second Team.

A senior from Rensselaer, N.Y., Clemente started all 16 games for the Red Hawks. She led RPI in scoring with 15 points on a team-best six goals and a team-high three assists. She had a game-winning goal and was tops on the club with 38 shots on goal. For her efforts, she was selected to the All-Liberty League Second Team and was chosen to play in the NFHCA North-South All-Star game, this Saturday at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa.

The Columbia High School graduate, who was a captain, ranked third in the Liberty League in shots on goal per game (2.38) and second in total shots per game (4.06). Clemente had at least one goal in four games and at least one point in five. She was a multiple league All-Academic selection and was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week once.

Pak, a junior captain who hails from Methuen, Mass., also started all 16 games for Rensselaer. She recorded one assist for one point, and was third on the team with 17 shots on goal.

A graduate of Methuen High School, Pak was named All-Liberty League Second Team this season and has been awarded multiple Liberty League All-Academic honors in her career. Last year, she played in all 19 games, tallying four goals and one assist for nine points.

TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Michelle Clemente has been selected to play in the prestigious National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) North-South Senior All-Star Game. A forward, Clemente will play for the North team in the game, which will take place on Saturday, November 17, at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa.

A senior forward from Rensselaer, N.Y., Clemente started all 16 games for the Red Hawks. She led RPI in scoring with 15 points on a team-best six goals and a team-high three assists. She had a game-winning goal and was tops on the club with 38 shots on goal. For her efforts, she was selected to the All-Liberty League Second Team.

The Columbia High School graduate, who was a captain, ranked in the top 10 in the Liberty League in several categories. She was second in shots on goal per game and fourth in total shots per game. Clemente had at least one goal in four games and at least one point in five. She was a multiple league All-Academic selection and was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week once.

Last season, the management and economics dual major had nine goals and three assists in 19 games. She finished eighth in the Liberty League in goals and ninth in points (21) and was named to the All-Liberty League Second Team.

As a sophomore, she tallied three goals and assisted on two more for eight points. In her rookie season, Clemente was second on the team in goals with five and was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week once.

Clemente finished her Rensselaer career playing in 68 games, scoring 23 goals and assisting on eight more for 54 points

TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced its year-end field hockey awards and three Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes were recognized. Michelle Clemente, Lisa Pak and Michelle Roy were all named to the Second Team.

A senior forward from Rensselaer, N.Y., Clemente started all 16 games for the Red Hawks. She led RPI in scoring with 15 points on a team-best six goals and a team-high three assists. She had a game-winning goal and a team-best 38 shots on goal.

The Columbia High School graduate, who was also a captain this season, ranked in the top 10 in the Liberty League in several categories, including shots per game (4th) and shots on goal (2nd). She had at least one goal in four games and at least one point in five games. Clemente, a league All-Academic selection, was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week once this season and was also selected to play in the prestigious NFHCA Division III Senior All-Star game.
Pak, a junior midfielder from Methuen, Mass., was a starter in all 16 games and had one assist. A captain, she was second on the team in shots (33) and third in shots on goal (17). Helping the team to three shutouts this season, Pak recorded a shot on goal in eight games.

A graduate of Methuen High School, Pak is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic and earned Liberty League Rookie of the Week once in her freshman season.

Roy, a senior midfielder who also hails from Rensselaer, N.Y., posted a goal and an assist for three points in 16 games. Sixth on the team in points and shots (14), she also had a game-winning goal.

A Liberty League Second Team selection in 2004 and 2006, Roy is also a graduate of Columbia High School.

The field hockey team, which is coached by Bridget LaNoir, finished the 2007 season with a 5-11 record, including a 2-5 Liberty League mark.
